Yuke's studio developers have been doing wrestling games for more than 15 years, and the latest releases of WWE 2K were assisted by another team of the 2K Games publisher named Visual Concepts. Since the game was published on October 22 this year, the users already don't like it. Why has WWE 2K20 earned such bad fame from the very release? Let's find out in this WWE 2K20 review.
Gameplay
The WWE 2K20 offers you to create both male and female protagonists at once, and the girl named Red plays the leading role. The male character, on the other hand, serves as the background and behaves like a complete idiot, which is quite funny. All of the characters have already wrestled with stars included those in the hall of fame, and now they indulge in memories. We are given 18 chapters that correspond to the list compiled by Red and Treat school, and we step on this list, getting a set of loosely related stories.
Each chapter includes approximately one set of actions. You watch the braking screensavers, then immediately you are transferred to the match, and you have to fulfill the task before the next chapter. The remaining modes remained standard, except for the new Showcase mode, which is dedicated to female wrestling and tells us the story of the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse: Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Bayley. You will get an opportunity to go through all the significant milestones of this story and participate in the most iconic matches.
Apart from this, there's also Towers mode that should be noted. Now you can calmly clean these towers of challenges without being anxious when you lose. Unlike the previous game series, you are not thrown to the very beginning but left on your current opponent. Towers with male athletes are more complex than women's. In this mode, there are many towers where you can compete for various titles and belts, or you can simply take part in a chain of battles in some kind of confrontation that is significant for the WWE universe.
Visuals
2K promised that the series restart would be the brightest and most memorable game ever. Instead, the WWE 2K20 release outraged the players, and the game collects mostly negative reviews. Graphics took a step back, and it was also seasoned by a huge number of bugs.
You have probably seen those strange and almost creepy videos and captures with WWE 2K20 bugs on the network, where, for example, some tentacle creature devours an opponent right in the ring, or fighters smile with a grin of a demon. At the same time, one could regularly observe many minor flaws like the strange work of body physics, epileptic facial animation, and flickering lighting.
Controls
For the PC version, the game control system has remained the same. However, the layout of the control has changed for PS4. Now the reversals are carried out by timely pressing the button with a triangle. Previously, the right trigger R2 was responsible for this. Finishers are also held by pressing the buttons of the front of the gamepad.
There's also a new Payback mechanic. This is a unique ability, the scale of which you accumulate in proportion to the damage received. This mechanic turns the battle in your direction even in an unfavorable situation. In addition, there is the Comeback ability, which helps a fighter to get his endurance boosted in a short period.
